WHERE ARE YOU GOING TO GO THIS YEAR?
There’s something special about experiencing Loch Lomond from the water. A boat trip doesn’t just take you across the loch – it opens up a whole range of landscapes, walks, wildlife and memorable moments that are hard to reach any other way. Here are some of the highlights of Loch Lomond that we think you'll like this year.
INCHCAILLOCH ISLAND
WHEN THE ISLAND TURNS BLUE
Spring is one of the most beautiful times to explore Loch Lomond. In May, the island of Inchcailloch comes alive with a carpet of bluebells, creating a stunning burst of colour beneath the ancient oak woodland. Arriving by boat feels especially magical, with deer often spotted along the water’s edge. Paths weave around the island and its perfect for families with little ones, with its sandy beach and shallow waters to paddle in.

ICONIC WALKS STRAIGHT FROM THE BOAT
One of the joys of cruising Loch Lomond is being able to step off the boat and straight into some of Scotland’s most iconic walks.
INVERSNAID, LOCH LOMOND
The West Highland Way walk, which hugs the loch shore and accesible from either Inversnaid or Rowardennan, is also putting on a show in spring. With the trees bursting with new green foliage, wildflowers and paths often quieter it makes this a perfect time for combining a boat trip with one of Scotland’s most beautiful walks (in our opinion!)

BEN LOMOND
Taking a boat trip to the foot of Ben Lomond and walking up to the summit is one of the most rewarding ways to experience Loch Lomond and its most famous mountain. Travelling by boat to Rowardennan sets the tone for the day, offering stunning views across the loch before stepping ashore at Rowardennan, the gateway to Ben Lomond. From here, the well-defined path leads you up Scotland’s most southerly Munro, with ever-changing views unfolding as you climb. Reaching the summit is a magical moment, with panoramic views stretching across the loch, the Highlands and beyond — a perfect combination of a fabulous boat trip and classic Scottish hillwalking.

OSPREY LOCH LOMOND
A LIVING LOCH - WILDLIFE OF LOCH LOMOND
Loch Lomond is full of wildlife and a boat trip offers a front-row seat. One of the most exciting sights of the year is the return of the Osprey, arriving back from Africa in spring to its various nest sites around the loch. Watching these impressive birds fish and soar above the water is an unforgettable experience.
You may also spot deer along the shoreline, wild mountain goats, a variety of water birds, White tailed eagles and Golden Eagles. Oh yes and you may even spot a wallaby!
