The summit of Ben Lomond
Climb Ben Lomond
Nestled on the eastern shore of Loch Lomond at the foot of Ben Lomond, Rowardennan is surrounded by ancient woodland, dramatic mountain landscapes and pretty beaches with clear waters, it is a favourite destination for walkers, wildlife enthusiasts and those looking to experience the quieter side of Scotland's first national park.
Rowardennan is best known as the starting point for the ascent of Ben Lomond, Scotland's most southerly Munro (a mountain over 3,000 feet) and one of the country's most popular peaks thanks to its accessibility from Glasgow and Central Scotland. The well-maintained path to the summit makes it achievable for many walkers, with breathtaking views opening up long before reaching the top. On a clear day, the summit rewards climbers with panoramic vistas across Loch Lomond, the Highlands and beyond. Depending on fitness levels, the return walk typically takes between 3 and 6 hours.

The next 7 miles will take you through magical ancient oak forests, across stunning sandy beaches with incredible views across the loch to the Arrochar Alps.
