Experience a cruise to the wooded island of Inchcailloch, a jewel in part of the Loch Lomond Nature Reserve, and steeped in history. Enjoy the scenery whilst listening to a live and informative commentary.
Spend time ashore for a picnic or a choice of two walks – the Summit Path or the Low Path.
This hilly island, which sits precisely on the Highland Boundary Fault, has an abundance of plant life and birdlife such as blaeberry, woodruff, guelder rose, jays, garden warbler and the capercaillie, the world’s biggest grouse.
Inchcailloch still has the foundations of a church dating back to the 12th or 13th Century.
The church finally being abandoned in 1670, but the graveyard continued to be used until the last burial in 1947. Most of the still legible gravestones belong to the MacFarlane Clan with many MacGregor stones too, one being that of Gregor MacGregor, Clan Chief and uncle to Rob Roy MacGregor.
During the month of October high water levels may make disembarkation on the island impossible . Please call to check.
