Join our daily departure from the peaceful haven of Inversnaid for a cruise across Loch Lomond to the village of Tarbet on the western shore.
Tarbet once described by Queen Victoria as “….a tranquil hamlet with splendid passes, richly wooded and the highest mountains rising behind” offers a variety of outdoor activities and stunning location in the shadow of Ben Lomond for a picnic.
Tarbet (‘place of portage’) is steeped in history dating back to the 13th century when pillaging Vikings dragged their longboats across the isthmus from Arrochar. The village was also the ancestral seat of the MacFarlane Clan for four centuries.
During time ashore choose between a number of manageable short walks (1-2 hours) above the villages of Arrochar and Tarbet; enjoy lunch and a drink at Tarbet Tearoom or The Ballyhennan; or for keen cyclists, bring your own cycle and cycle part of the West Loch Lomond Cycle Route to Inverbeg (5 miles) or Luss(9 miles).
Return times departing Tarbet at 13:45 hrs and 15:00 hrs offer flexibility for your visit to the western shore.
